Both the components of the PMAY scheme focus on different sectors such as, Affordable housing in urban areas is aimed at through PMAY-U (PMAY – For Urban Areas). Some systems comprised are:

  • Redeveloping slum areas in situ (ISSR) is a scheme for private developers to construct residential buildings for the poor on available lands.
  • It is also known as Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) which encourages collaborations between public sector organizations and commercial developers to construct affordable housing.
  • Beneficiary-led Construction (BLC) refers to financing that helps individuals or families build their own homes.
  • Through the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS), low-income groups can get interest rate rebates on house loans.

To meet housing needs in rural regions, PMAY-Gramin (PMAY-G) finances house construction within these regions. It focuses on:

  • Provide support to improve and upgrade existing houses.

Eligibility Criteria Under PMAY Scheme

Eligibility under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana  (PMAY) scheme is based on the following components: 

PMAY-U:

EWS (Economically Weaker Sections: Households with an annual income of up to 3 lakh rupees. 

LIG (Low-Income Groups: Households whose yearly earnings range between 6 lakh rupees

MIG I and II (Middle-Income Groups): Households with an annual income that ranges from 6 lakhs to 18 lakhs for MIG I while that of MIG II ranges from 18 lakhs to 30 lakhs. 

PMAY-G:

  • Have a Pucca House
  • Motorized two or three-wheelers and four-wheelers Mechanized agriculture equipment of three or four-wheelers possessing a Kisan Credit Card having a limit of Rs 50,000 or above
  • Any member is a government employee Has a registered non-agricultural enterprise and pays Income/ Professional Tax fridge or landline phone; i.e., 2.5 acres of irrigated land or more.
  • 5 acres or more for at least two crop seasons and 7.5 acres of land having at least one irrigation facility.

  • The first step is to go to the official website of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana official.
  • Then click on sign-in and click on ‘New User? Register Here.
  • Enter your Aadhar details 
  • Now fill out the application form and fill in all the required details.

PMAY-G Apply Process

Eligible beneficiaries can visit their respective Gram Panchayats, Village Sabhas, or any other localized governmental unit acknowledged by the associated State/ UT Panchayat Act and hand in all necessary information to these officials so that they can enroll in PMAY-G.
